A little story from my daughter's first week in junior high.
Me: How was school?
K: It was okay. Our classroom is sooo noisy. I got transferred seats twice because the teacher had to put me between two noisy classmates.
Me: Ohhh okay...
K: One kid was so noisy, the teacher threw chalk at him.
Me: (I know this is gonna be an unpopular reaction with some parents, but yes! I giggled. No, actually, I laughed!) Did he learn his lesson?
K: I don't think so. He was still noisy during the next subject.
Me: If you were the noisy one and your teacher did that to you... would you come running home to Mommy crying and offended?
K: No. It was my fault the teacher did it. I'd say sorry to the teacher, though.
Me: Cool.

We can't control how others discipline, but we can raise kids who know how to take accountability. 🙏
Don't raise kids to be fragile. Raise them to be grounded, reflective, and strong enough to say:
"It was my fault, and I'm sorry."
